Current Vacancies

  • The Children’s Worker will support the vision and leadership of the Children’s Ministry at New Life Church (ages 0–11), working closely alongside the Children’s Pastor. The role will include overseeing the children’s ministry; educate, minister to, and include the children in the ministry of the church; follow up with any visiting families; and manage the ministry’s budget as approved by the Board of Directors.

    As with all ministry roles, responsibilities may naturally develop and grow over time in response to gifting, church needs, and leadership direction. This job description is therefore not exhaustive.

    Accountability

    The Children’s Worker is accountable to the Children’s Pastor and ultimately to the Senior Leadership of New Life Church.

    Time Commitment

    • Part-time: 15 hours per week

    • Includes Sundays and an additional flexible working day during the week

    Salary: £26,000 pro rata (based on full-time equivalent of 40 hours)

    Personal Qualities and Qualifications

    • A committed Christian faith and a clear sense of calling to children’s ministry

    • A genuine love for children and families, with a desire to see them grow in faith

    • Previous experience in children’s ministry 

    • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

    • Confidence in leading and developing volunteer teams

    • A collaborative spirit and willingness to work as part of a wider ministry team

    • An awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with the Children’s Pastor to oversee all children’s ministry programmes(ages 0–11), primarily on Sundays and midweek settings

    • Help plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate, engaging, and spiritually focused programmes

    • Support the development of creative environments that encourage learning, worship, and faith formation

    • Contribute to the development of teaching materials, activities, and resources that support spiritual growth

    Volunteer Leadership

    • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer teams across children’s ministry

    • Build a culture of encouragement, teamwork, and spiritual growth among volunteers

    Family and Pastoral Care

    • Help provide pastoral care and follow-up for children and families within the church community

    • Support connection with visiting families and help integrate them into church life

    Events and Outreach

    • Support planning and delivery of key events including Holiday Clubs, Christmas programmes, and seasonal celebrations

    • Contribute to outreach initiatives aimed at engaging new children and families

    • Help ensure children’s ministry is visible, welcoming, and well connected to the wider church vision

    Safeguarding and Compliance

    • Work closely with the church Safeguarding Lead to ensure all policies and procedures are followed

    • Promote a culture of safety, care, and best practice across all children’s activities

    General Responsibilities

    • Attend staff meetings on Tuesday mornings, training sessions, and ministry gatherings as required

    • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Children’s Pastor or Senior Leadership Team

  • General Duties

    The Primary role of the Administrator is to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the church. This requires a high level of multitasking and includes working with the Emmanuel Church Duffield (ECD) Pastor to keep various church policies and procedures up to date and providing administrative support to ministries across the church.

    Accountability

    Accountable to the ECD Pastor. 

    Desired Abilities

    o   Experience and/or qualification in office administration and management.

    o   Able to focus on the Aims and Objectives of New Life Church and its vision, and provide a strategy to achieve that administratively.

    o   Ability to work in a team as well as lead groups.

    o   Proficient in typing and general computing skills.

    o   This role requires a person who is flexible, able to multitask, a good role model, compassionate, gracious, dependable, discreet, and has a friendly and kind approach.

    o   Excellent organisational and communication skills.

    Character

    This role requires a person who is reliable, dependable, well-respected, approachable, teachable, gracious, and discreet. 

    Time Commitments

    Part-time working hours of 10-hour week spread across two days. Includes participating in meetings/trainings as directed by the leadership.

    Salary: £26,000 Pro-rata (40hrs Full-time)

    Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:

    (List of work elements may be required from time to time as necessary)

    • Maintain a current and master calendar of church-wide events.

    • Keep church records, including baptismal, marriages, funerals, etc.

    • Participate and take notes in our weekly staff meetings, bringing administrative support to the decisions made at the meeting.

    • Follow up on requests for information made by the congregation on a Sunday and maintain an up-to-date awareness of any new folks within the church.

    • Liaising with other staff members and department leaders, oversee the various methods of internal and external communication from the church, including the Emmanuel Times, Social Media/Website.

    • To assist the ECD Pastor in the development and improvement of church facilities/ properties.

    • Maintain and monitor service contracts for church facilities.

    • Ensuring the facility is ready for use by various ministries and on Sundays.

    • Act as the ‘Competent Person’ relating to Health & Safety or implement the recommendations of a contracted ‘competent person’ to ensure the safety of volunteers and visitors. 

    • Support department and ministry leaders, where practicable to help achieve their objectives 

    • Working with the Executive Pastor to prepare and maintain the various policies and procedures that support the smooth running of the church.

    • Maintain office systems to deal efficiently with paper flow, organising and storing of paperwork and computer-based information.

    • In liaison with our Finance Manager, conduct basic bookkeeping and handle petty cash.

    • Any other reasonable tasks that arise as directed by the ECD Pastor.

    • Participate in the vision, mission, and Spiritual side of ECD life, committing yourself to supporting and praying for your colleagues.

    The person will be based in the office of Emmanuel Duffield, but is expected to attend the staff meeting at New Life Derby on Tuesday morning.
