Here at New Life we have a great Festive Event coming up on Saturday 15th October. We would like to invite you to 'The Feast of the Tabernacles'.
In John 7:37, we read . . . On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
We read at the beginning of this chapter, the event being referred to here that Jesus was attending is the Feast of Tabernacles or Festival of Shelters. This was one of the festivals spoken of in the Torah; one that all Jews were commanded to observe.
During the evening, and following a time of worship, there will be a historical background given to the Festival by our resident Jewish family and we’ll be able to sample some traditional Israeli fayre.
There will also be a time for you to ask any questions you may have about the festival, such as why is it important or even relevant to us Christians living in Britain today.
