Passion for the Lost
Let's seek God to focus on how to reach the lost in our sphere of influence, the church, the city and the nation.
1 Corinthians 9:22
To the weak I became weak in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some of them.
The scripture verse today talks about reaching the lost and going to where they are, and being in a weak place so that we can reach the lost and below are some practical ways how we can apply that in our lives, personally, as a church and in the nation.
Personally
In your personal lives think about those family, friends and colleagues who you'd really love to know Jesus like you do. In your actions towards those friends, pray about them consistently by name. On a Monday in 6am prayer and at 9pm prayer, people are prayed for by name. We now have a number of testimonies of the people named and prayed for coming to know Jesus. Use that prayer opportunity to bring people before the Lord by name.
In your school, college or workplace, think about how you might serve or minister to them and who them who Jesus really is. In our community, think about people you have encountered and pray for those people.
As a church
As a church, we have some amazing opportunities to evangelise together. Twice a month, there will be outreach on the steps and at Pak foods. Anyone is welcome to come along and flex those spiritual muscles for evangelism. The skills gained at these outreach opportunities can be taken back to home churches. I really struggled with talking about Jesus in my daily life and eventually praying with them to accept Jesus - coming to church and evangelising regularly was where I quickly overcame my fears. Regular evangelism will bring you to the point of being confident to have the conversation that will change someone's life and their eternity. Join us in praying that evangelism grows this year on the church steps and outside Pak foods and more people come to know Jesus from the seed that is sown liberally in the Normanton area and our home churches.
As a nation
Pray into our nation becomes aware of how lost it is. The bible tells us in Luke 10:2;
'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'
Pray that we become a church that has so many people that want to go out, spread seed and bring in that harvest.
Matthew 28:18
'Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,'
Go and make disciples of all nations. Let's go out there and make those disciples and bring them into the fellowship of knowing Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and as their best friend.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the divine appointments that you supply us with. Lord we know that your Holy Spirit is what changes people's hearts and all we have to do is go out and spread that seed liberally. Lord, I pray for each and every one of us as we go out today in our prayer and fasting schedule, to spread the seeds liberally in your mighty name. Amen.
