Can You Hear The Rain?
"'Now Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of the roar of a heavy shower."
1 Kings 18:41
The 'normal' hearing frequency range of a healthy young person is about 20 to 20,000Hz. Several animal species are able to hear frequencies well beyond the human hearing range. Some dolphins and bats, such as, can hear frequencies up to 100,000 Hz. Elephants can hear sounds at 14–16 Hz, while some whales can hear infrasonic sounds as low as 7 Hz. Similarly, there are sounds coming from heavenly realm which can be received by those whose spiritual senses are active.
The Bible says, before the rain, Elijah heard the sound of a heavy rain. The man of God, Elijah is hearing something which Ahab, the king of Israel is not able to hear. The land has not seen rain for 3.5 years but Elijah is hearing the sound of a heavy rain. Our spiritual senses need to be active in order to hear the sounds beyond human capacity.
It is interesting to note that before Elijah even prayed, he heard the sound. He climbed the mountain to pray by hearing the sound. He was praying with intensity and persistently by hearing the sound of a heavy rain. Every time, the servant says, "There is nothing there" but Elijah was hearing the sound. Even though our eyes can't see any change or any difference after a season of praying, let us not grow weary or tired. What keeps us motivated is the sound we hear in our ears. We should pray earnestly for breakthrough in our life, family, church and nation by hearing what heaven is declaring over us.
Elijah heard the sound and prophetically declared it to the king Ahab. What he did next is a model to us. He didn't think he arrived by just hearing the sound and went back home but climbed the mountain to pray. Whatever we see or hear in the spiritual realm needs to be manifested in the physical realm. Whatever, heaven is released over our lives we pray for it until we see it with our physical eyes.
We need to train our ears to what God is saying
His voice is love
His voice is power
His voice is healing
His voice is peace
His voice is joy
His voice is freedom
His voice is wisdom
Let us pray by hearing what God has declared over our lives and our nation.
